The Courtyard London Gatwick is located on Buckingham Gate to the east of the South Terminal and close to the turn off from the M23. Marriott advertises the hotel as being five minutes walk from the airport (turning right from the terminal building and following signs for Schlumberger House), although those with heavy luggage may find it easier to take the shuttle service at a cost of £2 one way.
The hotel itself has 218 rooms over five floors, and is the latest in the smart new-generation of Courtyard properties. Rooms feature wired and wifi internet access (wifi is available throughout the hotel), air-conditioning, 26-inch LCD TV, workdesk and “ergonomic chair”, safe, tea and coffee facilities and iron / ironing board.
Volare restaurant serves Mediterranean dishes and is also open for breakfast, while the lounge located beneath the atrium is open 24 hours. The hotel also has a fitness centre, and for meetings there is a total of 118sqm of space across three function rooms, with the largest capable of holding up to 70 delegates.
When Business Traveller checked today for a one-night stay next week, rates started from £55, compared to £95 at the Hilton London Gatwick Airport (which is attached to the South Terminal via a covered walkway), and £58 for an overnight stay in a standard cabin at the Yotel London Gatwick (within the terminal building).
